2014 12 Hours of La Tuque Race Overview
Beau Baron & David Haagsma & Matt Hancock Win
La Tuque, Quebec Canada (5/19/2014) –The United States Team of Beau Baron, David Haagsma, and Matt Hancock, took home the win at the 12 Hours of La Tuque in Quebec, Canada.
Canada’s Can-Am Team (Mathieu Deroy, Vachon, Desjardins) claimed the second spot on the podium, and Yamaha’s French/Canadian Team of Jeremie Warnia, Leblanc, and Caplette rounded out the top three at the 12 Heures D’Endurance La Tuque.
H&M Motorsports / Pro Motorsports #495 Team finished in the top three in the first and second sessions of the three, 4 Hour long, 12 Hours of La Tuque race sessions. The Team came on strong in the final four hours of the race as their Sparks Racing Honda 450R never missed a beat in the final hours of the race.
While the other top teams were all experiencing mechanical issues which allowed Baron, Haagsma, and Hancock to run away with a seven lap lead in the final session of the race, and they won the race by a combined eight laps over #1 Can-Am in the second spot.
The 2013 12 Hours of La Tuque Winners, #1 Can-Am’s Deroy, Vachon, and Desjardins were in the running for the win until the final four hours of the race when they experienced some mechanical issues, which dropped them back to second place with 232 laps after 12 hours of racing.
PY Racing / Elka’s PY Deneault, Jarrod McClure, and Brian Wolf finished in fourth after winning the first session of the race with a two lap lead, but they also experienced major issues in the final four hours of the race when their stator failed on the Honda, and they continued to have electrical issues, which had them returning to the pits several times, which dropped them back to a fourth place finish with a total of 220 laps.
