Atascadero, CA (2/27/2018) – CST’s Beau Baron won both the SXS Pro and Pro ATV races, while teammate Mitch Anderson finished third in the Pro 2 Motorcycle race during the WORCS Series weekend at Canyon MX in Peoria, AZ. Baron also finished third in the SXS Pro Stock race.
The races were held on the motocross course and the rock-strewn dry river valley surrounding it. In addition, special one-track sections and a sand wash were added for the motorcycle races.
In the Pro SXS race, Baron was pinched at the start of the crash-filled race and he had to make his way through the field. He was in perfect position on the final lap when the leader’s car slowed, and he took the win, his first of the season. He appreciated the longevity and competitiveness of his CST Dingo tires.
“If you look at the tires, they are in just a good shape as when I started,” said Baron. “There’s nothing that will beat them on hard pack. CST Tires combined with Tire Blocks are the perfect combination on my SXS and my quad. I’ve been working a lot with Doug Roll and Elka on the suspension and we’re getting it like we like it. Matt Hancock and I are the only ones running them and they are a force right now.”
In SXS Pro Stock, Baron also had to work his way up after being forced out in the first turn. Baron drove through the field to finish third, just behind second place.
“It was hard to see, there were a lot of rocks, it was a rough sucker, but it was fun,” said Baron. “I just drove smart. A couple of guys just made mistakes and once the track cleared out I got around a couple of cars. Then I put the hammer down and started gaining.”
In Pro ATV, Baron is back in the points lead after winning his first race of the season. Like he did in the SXS race, he started fifth and ran a consistent pace to take the lead late and win the race.
“I just tried to stay as smooth as possible and look ahead because these corners are easy to blow out here,” said Baron. “I rode my own race and had a good time. I’m stoked to have my points lead back.”
Anderson scored a podium in the Pro 2 race under some of the most difficult conditions during the weekend. Dodging rocks and fighting the dust, he took third.
Baron and Anderson next head to Glen Helen Raceway in Devore, CA for the third round of AMA District 32 Big6 Grand Prix competition. That race is scheduled for March 3-4.
