SOCIETY HILL, S.C. (April 22, 2018) – Arriving just in time for round five of the AMSOIL Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) Series, an AMA National Championship, were near perfect racing conditions at Moree’s Sportsman’s Preserve, who hosted America’s premier off-road ATV racers Saturday, April 21. All eyes were on the front row when the 1 p.m. race took off, to see who would take the overall win.
When the checkered flag flew it was WFR/GBC/Fly Racing/Yamaha’s Walker Fowler returning to the center of the podium after a dominating performance. After two-consecutive rounds of missing the coveted overall position, Fowler would grab the Wiseco $250 XC1 ATV holeshot award and lead the field of XC1 pros into the woods. With bad luck striking a number of riders behind him, Fowler would not be contested as he lead each lap of the race, ultimately earning his third win of the season.
JMR/ATVriders.com-backed rider, Jarrod McClure, would cross the line in second as he put in an exceptional ride after dealing with dry and sandy conditions that overtook many areas of the racecourse. With riders ahead of him succumbing to mechanical issues and falling off the pace, McClure’s steady and consistent speed gave him a comfortable gap to glide in and take his third podium finish of the season.
Bneal Motorsports/CST Tires/Houser Racing’s Brycen Neal came through the finish line on lap one in the fifth place position, but you could tell he wanted to battle at the very front of the pack. Neal kept charging and would find himself back on the podium taking the final podium position with a well-earned third overall.
*Overall National Championship Standings:

  1. Walker Fowler (127)
  2. Brycen Neal (110)
  3. Jarrod McClure (98)
