Team ATV World Yamaha rider Sean Goss took the Ulster Quad Championship title for an impressive third time after an exciting last round thriller at Downpatrick Motocross Track, Northen Ireland.
Sean went into the final round full of confidence, his ATV World Yamaha YFZ450 had handled and performed flawlessly all year in both the Ulster and British Championships, especially impressive at Culham where he took fifth place finishes. After qualifying third, Sean got a good start to the first race, battling in the top three until a stone knocked out the kill switch on the first lap. Sean had to start from last place as he made his incredible assault through to finish in third place.
That left Sean leading the championship by four points over David Cowan. The championship title was going to be taken in the final race! Another good start in race two and Sean was in second place. He maintained that position knowing it would be enough, with superb skill and nerves of steel, Sean crossed the line in second place, winning the Championship by the narrowest of margins.
Sean was delighted after the final race, the 2010 Ulster Quad Champion. He said; “It has been an extremely close championship this year with only 10 points difference covering first to third place. Winning by just one point will make this a win to remember! I’ve really enjoyed the racing this year. I’ve been injury free and I’m really happy with the Yamaha YFZ450, it’s been great. Very little to set-up, amazing suspension with my Elka factory shocks and Laeger’s Pro Trax kit – it’s once again given me total confidence to go out there and put in a good performance.”
Sean went on to thank everyone for their continued help and support throughout the year.
Thanks also to all the event organisers for their continued hard work putting together these championships. Also to the ATV World Yamaha sponsors who, along with their outstanding products have helped to develop and support a championship winning team for the 2010 season.
