Hiram, Ohio 5-10-15 // Vechery Racing’s Ronnie Higgerson took home a sixth place overall finish and Casey Martin finished 12th overall at the historic Muddy Creek Raceway in Blountville, Tennessee this past weekend at round three of the Mt. Dew AMA ATV-MX Series.
Muddy Creek Raceway marked the first time Vechery racing had reached the podium in the Pro-Am class as then Pro and Pro-Am rider Tim Dettling swept the weekend over rival Ronnie Higgerson in 2013. Fast-forward two years and Ronnie Higgerson, now a rider for Vechery Racing, looked to repeat that good luck in the AMA Pro Class. With the gate drop of the first moto, Higgerson would find himself in sixth place as the riders completed their first lap. As the moto wore on Higgerson would work his way as high as fourth until ultimately crossing the finish line in fifth place. Unfortunately the second moto gate drop would not be as good to Higgerson as he would start nearly dead last in the 18 rider field. Showing that his hard work off the bike is paying off, Higgerson would work his way into sixth place by the time the checkered flag flew at the end of the 11 lap race. “I had a pretty good weekend again, fifth the first Moto and sixth the second for sixth overall. Second moto I had to work my tail off coming all the way from dead last but I never gave up and charged hard. I am currently tied for sixth in points and only six points from fifth. I am getting better every weekend and it only fuels my fire. I will be looking for a spot on that podium very soon!! I want to thank everybody so much for all they do for me, it means everything,” – exclaimed Higgerson!
Casey Martin would start of the weekend with a bang as he rocketed off the line on his Dasa Powered/TDR Built Honda in second place. Martin would settle into fourth for a few laps until a mechanical issue would put him back to 16th. In moto number two Martin would find himself around the top ten for the entire moto. With a strong finish Martin would cross the finish line in 10th giving him a 12th overall finish. “I took some steps forward today at Muddy Creek. Moto one I came out of the gate 2nd and dropped back to fourth pretty quick but ran around there for a minute until we had a throttle sticking issue due to front brake lever rolling forward. I pulled off to the mechanic’s area and rolled it back up and got going again. Second Moto I came out about mid pack and finished a solid 10th. I am getting more and more used to the Vechery Racing Honda and getting some of my endurance built back up as the season keeps rolling. I am excited for round four at High Point already,” – said Martin.
Vechery Racing/Never Sleep Designs Satellite support riders and Louisiana duo of Alex Pafford and Bryce Barber once again had a solid weekend of racing. Alex would go on to finish fifth in Youth All Star and 11th Schoolboy Senior. Bryce would go on to finish 10th in 450B.
