Round 1 • WORCS SXS Pro Race Report • Primm, NV

Wittmann, AZ (1/30/2019) – Pro Motorsports’ Matt Hancock drove a brand-new Polaris RZR RS1 to a second-place finish in the Pro Stock SXS portion of the WORCS Series season opener in Primm, NV. Hancock is competing for Polaris in both Pro and Pro Stock SXS classes this year.

Hancock debuted his new single-seat RS1 in the Pro Stock class. Though untested before the weekend, his new ride shined after getting dialed in during practice. He snagged the holeshot at the start and finished second, helping to secure an all Polaris RS1 podium.

“Coming into the weekend I was a little nervous; I hadn’t really driven the car and it only had two miles on it,” said Hancock. “Doug Roll had our shocks dialed in. We made a few adjustments in practice and it showed. The Maxxis tires got me off to the holeshot. My RCV axles allowed me to really push and I had no problems. I learned the car as the race went on. It’s fun to get out front and stay there the whole race.”

In Pro SXS, Matthew was driving his unique Kraftwerks supercharged Polaris RZR. Clutch tuning limited his top speed on the straightaways, but he was holding strong in the top five before a belt issue put him seventh at the finish.

“I misjudged the tuning on my clutch and I wasn’t able to go as fast as I wanted to on the straightaways, so I lost some time,” explained Hancock. “It is the same car we’ve used the last couple of years and it just ripped. With two laps to go, something happened, and I lost a belt, so I fell back to seventh. The longer races are a lot of fun, but we have to make some changes to the setup with more fuel.”

Hancock was pleased to get through the first round with two successful races. He will be back in action when the series heads to his home state of Arizona for the Lake Havasu round.
“Getting through the first round is huge in these races,” said Hancock. “There are 24 people in our class so to finish seventh with the issues I had is decent. We’ll go into the next round even more ready and try to get back on the box.”

Hancock will be ready to rip when the WORCS Series holds its next round February 22-24 during the Spring Break weekend in Lake Havasu City, AZ.
