Lake Havasu City, AZ March 16-18, 2012 – Beautiful Lake Havasu City in Arizona and the Crazy Horse Campground hosted round 3 of the WORCS Series for 2012. The Saturday temperature would be ideal for a great day of racing. This track held up its reputation as the rock throwing, rutted out and rough track that it is again for 2012.
In practice on Friday, Kyler Thau 224y would get a swift blow to the knee from a roosted rock from another rider that left him realizing knee pads might be necessary on rocky tracks like Havasu. This wouldn’t hold him back though, on Saturday in the 70 Production Kyler was able to take the hole shot, the fastest lap and the win, followed by Ricky Easterwood of Bakersfield, CA and Caden Anderson of Coon Rapids, MN. In the Sport 8-15, Kyler again secured the hole shot, fastest lap and win after being pressed hard by youth rider Dominic Bartell from Bethel, MN and Missy Taylor of Eatonville, WA. Sunday’s 70 Open would leave Kyler off the podium in that class for the 2nd straight race. After a great start, Kyler would pit on lap 2 with the machine not performing with an ignition issue and limped its way over the finish line in 6th place to avoid getting a DNF in the class. After 3 rounds, Kyler is holding the points lead in the 70 Production and Sport 8-15 classes and has dropped to 4th in the 70 Open.
In April, WORCS will bring us to Arizona again, for round 4 at Speed World Raceway. With more motocross section at Speed World, Kyler will be able to utilize the Stage 5’s that Elka Suspension has produced for his mini quad. The new Elka’s have been amazing for helping the rough ride of challenging off road racing and Elka Suspension has been flawless in their support.
