Donemana Motocross Track on the outskirts of Strabane marked the start of the 2012 motocross season for Sean Goss in Northern Ireland with the annual March Hare Motocross event held on Saturday the 3rd March.
Despite heavy rain in the run up to the event, the hosting Club had once again done a fantastic job of preparing the circuit and on race day the rain appeased to leave the surface in ideal condition for racing. As timed qualification got underway the battle for pole position swapped hands several times before Goss secured the fastest lap in the closing seconds of the qualification session, less than one tenth of a second faster than 2nd position.
With the action getting under way Goss got a perfect start heading out on the first lap in 1st position to kick start the first of two nine lap motos. Despite the ever changing track conditions Goss quickly found his rhythm, setting the pace to lead from the drop of the gate to the chequered flag.
The start to the second race saw Goss rounding the first corner within the top 5; battling hard in the opening laps to close the gap to the front while defending his position and exploring new lines on the now deeply rutted circuit with the Elka System 5 suspension working flawlessly Goss moved up to 1st position by lap three of the nine lap moto. Pulling out a 25 second gap over 2nd position and remaining unchallenged to the chequered flag to take 1st overall on the day.
