Cody Janssen Repeats at Muddy Creek

On the second weekend of April the world’s best ATV motocross racers headed to Blountville, Tennessee for Round 2 of the Mountain Dew AMA ATV Motocross National Tour. Pro Am Sophomore stand-out Cody Janssen was looking for another good weekend after his winning campaign the prior race in Georgia. “I feel good!” He said coming into the weekend. “It’s been hard to get seat time being that it’s still snowing back in Wisconsin, but I’ve been putting in my work in the gym and I feel totally ready. Look for the number 25 up front this weekend!”

Cody’s first class, 4 stroke A, which he has said he is basically using at practice for Pro Am started off slowly but ended very well. In the first moto Cody recovered from a bad gate pick by slowly but calculatedly picking his way through the pack and finishing up in 3rd by race’s end. Going into the second moto with a much better gate selection, Janssen was ready to seize the moment. He nailed a perfect holeshot and led the race from start to finish, winning by a very commanding margin by the time the checkered flag came out. His 3-1 score awarded him the overall victory, and just padded his championship points lead in the class. Cody Janssen has won both 4 Stroke A events so far in 2013.

Pro Am, the premier class, takes place on Sunday. Once again plagued by bad gate picks, Cody found himself outside the top 12 at the start of moto 1. He again worked his way through the pack and finished 6th in Pro Am’s first race of the year. After a few minor bike adjustments, Cody felt confident going into the class’ second moto. Once again having to recover from a bad start, the #25 machine made his way from about 16th to 9th by the end of the race; this performance earned Cody a 9th overall result in Pro Am. “9th obviously isn’t where I want to be.” Cody said. “But the reality of it is these are the best guys in the world, so 9th out of 38 isn’t awful. I’m going to keep putting in the work, and I know the results will come. It will be a little easier when the weather gets better back home and I can ride more regularly. As long as I keep progressing I will be happy. I expect to be in the top 5 at Ballance’s and vying for podium position. I know I can run up front, there’s no doubt about it. I’m going to keep working hard and I know it will pay off. God bless and I’ll see you all up on the box in Kentucky!”

Last but not least, Cody must thank all of his sponsors. First and foremost his great team, Team Janssen Motorsports FSI, Roy, Faye, and Troy Hill, Jimmy Sims, his amazing family, friends, and fan base. Also a huge shout out to Elka Suspension for everything they do for Cody! “I always know I have the best suspension out there, the Elka Stage 5 is unmatched. Great product and even greater people!” Also, Maxxis Tires, SSI Decals, DP Brakes, Thor MX, 100%, Oshkosh Tattoo and Good Girl Piercing, Dynamite ATV, Tweeked Powderworks, JB Racing, Rath, Renthal, Motoworks, Hinson Clutches, Stephen Propson at P501, CP Pistons, Don Straus for his generosity, Andrew Vogt, 136 Photography, Terry Moore at Advanced Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine, his phenomenal mechanic Todd, and everyone else that helps him out. Round number 3 is located at Ballance MX in Oakland, Kentucky on April 27-28.
