April 19-21, 2013 Sand Hollow State Park, Hurricane Utah
Sand Hollow State Park in Hurricane, Utah would host Round 4 of the WORCS Super Event Series featuring ATV, Motocross and Side-By-Side racing action thru the long, rough and gruelling terrain of deep sand, dunes, slick rock and warm temperatures.
Amateur youth rider, Kyler Thau of Chico, CA raced 4 classes, taking home two 2nd place finishes and suffering a disappointing DNF in the Sport 8-15 class breaking his undefeated record in that class after nearly a year and half. With Kyler in the lead, the mechanical issues were scattering carnage everywhere which didn’t come to a big surprise with all the deep sand and conditions that challenged all that ran in the mini classes. In the Production 250 race on Sunday, Kyler held second for about the first half of the race but was eventually passed as he got hung up behind several other riders. But fortunately, in both the 12-15 Production and 12-15 Production Sport, Kyler was able to take home the 2nd place WORCS medallion! The scenery at Sand Hollow would not disappoint, although lacking a motocross section, the area was beautiful in most every direction that you could turn. Because of the long off-road laps (13 miles for some classes), viewing the track during racing was a bit difficult but the GoPro footage was amazing and the challenges of this track will definitely leave a mark in the memory books for WORCS Off-Road racing.
Round 5 will finally bring us back closer to home and in California for a familiar and fun track at Honolulu Hills Raceway in Taft, CA. where we will start on the latter half of the 2013 WORCS season.
Kyler Thau would like to thank his 2013 sponsors: Elka Suspension, Answer Racing, CT Racing, Go Pro, Fast Flexx Bars, X Brand Goggles, ODI Grips, Triumph Motorsports, BRM Off Road, Gifted Productions, Slick Products Pro/Am Team, Hot Coats and Twin Air.
