The 2018 ATVMX season kicked off yesterday in Daytona, Florida. The 2017 defending ATV Pro Champion and long time Elka factory team rider Joel Hetrick was ready to rock, as well as many Elka sponsored riders in different classes!
After winning his qualification heat, Hetrick got off to a great start with the lead, but an unfortunate mistake made him slip to 2nd place, which he held on to for the rest of the race. He raced hard for the remaining laps behind Chad Wienen who got the overall win. This year again will be a great battle for the Pro Championship!
In Pro-Am, the race was spectacular with many lead changes and great battles all over the track. We saw a podium full of Elka equipped quads:
1st – Haedyn Mickelson
2nd – Noah Mickelson
3rd – Brandon Hoag
Round 2 is March 24-25 in Hamer, SC!
