Atascadero, CA (3/19/2017) – Beau Baron won his fourth consecutive Pro ATV race during the WORCS Series event in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Baron also finished fifth in the Pro SXS race.
With typical hot and rough Havasu conditions, Baron put his experience to the test in the ATV race. Coming off the start third, he ran a consistent, steady and smooth race, taking the lead late in the race and cruising to victory, padding his points lead.
“I set a pace early because I knew it was going to be hot and rough and I just tried to maintain that pace,” said Baron. “Havasu is not to be messed with, so I just tried to ride a smooth and steady pace. The Roll Design Elka Suspension worked really well. A big thank you to Doug Roll for making my shocks stiffer because this place really requires a stiff suspension.”
Baron has now won every Pro ATV race this season. He is well on his way to his sixth championship.
“It’s important to get the wins done early,” said Baron. “That way later in the year you can take a second or a third and not worry about the points. I’m pumped to be here. I’m not getting any younger. I’m 36 now and I’m clipping along with these kids.”
While mechanical issues sidelined Baron in the Pro Stock SXS race, he showed how it’s done in the Pro SXS race. After starting 13th, he quickly moved through the field to net the top five.
“I came front the second row and got fifth, which is fine for Havasu,” said Baron. “The track is so rough, and at one point, I locked up a wheel with a rock. All in all, my turbo kept going. The course was brutal. There were a lot of deep ruts out there. We were almost high centering around the turns at the end, and the lagoon jump was difficult this year.”
Unfortunately, in Pro Stock a mechanical issue sidelined Baron early in the event after he won the last two races. He now sits second in points and ready for redemption.
“I started coming through the pack, but I had a major issue,” said Baron. “So I salvaged a finish and got some points.”
Baron will be looking for his fifth ATV victory and a return to greatness in SXS Pro Stock as WORCS next heads to The Orleans in Las Vegas for a special indoor event. That race is scheduled for March 31-April 2.
