Tempe, AZ (3/21/2018) – Pro Motorsports’ Matt Hancock was charging hard in both the SXS Pro Turbo and Pro Stock classes before bad luck slowed him at the end during the WORCS races in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Hancock finished 10th in the Pro Turbo and 12th in Pro Stock.
The event was held on the tight, sandy, technical, and rocky course at the Crazy Horse Campground. In the Pro race, Hancock drove his KraftWerks supercharged Polaris RZR. Starting from the second row, he made it up to third before one of the large rocks slowed him at the end.
“My KraftWerks supercharger is dialed with the Sparks engine,” explained Hancock. “I started on the second row because I had some difficulties in the last two races. I was running third on time and we were ripping. The track was brutal today, I hit a couple of big rocks and fell back at the end. The car was working great. I’m really excited to get through this round and I learned a lot about the car.”
In Pro Stock, Hancock snagged his sixth consecutive holeshot from the front row and was ripping from the start. After losing three positions, Hancock found the fast line and was running third when an electrical issue slowed him on the final lap. He recovered to score a top ten.
“I figured out their line and made up more time, but 200 yards from the finish I had a fuse pop,” said Hancock. “It was a fluke deal and pretty frustrating. I got some points and I’ll be ready to go for Sand Hollow.”
In the Pro Stock race, Hancock said expert clutch tuning by Sparks Performance Products and his 29-inch Maxxis Big Horn 2.0 tires gave him the power and the grip he needed at the start. With WORCS tight courses, Hancock explained that starting position is everything.
“I can’t ask for more and it’s all with that Sparks clutch tuning,” said Hancock. “This Polaris RZR just rips and the Maxxis Tires hooked up. These races are so tight that you have to get up front early.”
With two dialed-in Polaris RZRs, Hancock is looking forward to the next round. That race is being held April 27-29 at Sand Hollow State Park in Hurricane, UT
