Tempe, AZ (3/1/2018) – Pro Motorsports’ Matt Hancock took second place in the UTV Pro Stock class in the second round of the WORCS series championship. Racing was held at Canyon MX in Peoria, AZ with beautiful sixty degree temperatures and clear skies.
Canyon MX was Hancock’s hometown race, so he felt the extra support of friends and family who made the trip to watch him race. The added support helped push Hancock to the front of the pack.
When the race began, Hancock’s Maxxis tires hooked up paired with Sparks tuning launched him forward to claim the holeshot. “I pulled off a great holeshot. The Maxxis tires and Sparks combo gave me a great jump,” said Hancock.
Hancock was out front early, but reported a few bad line choices that Hancock said dropped him into third place. From there it was an all out battle with Beau Baron chasing him down and pushing him throughout the race. “Baron ran me down, and I started making some mistakes from being nervous. I finally shook that off and started racing, so we picked up our lap times and caught the leaders,” explained Hancock.
The course at Canyon MX was filled with large rocks and tough conditions, but it was no match for Hancock’s setup. “The Elka suspension worked awesome. We put a lot of time into testing and it is awesome to see it pay off. We were nailing some big rocks, so huge shout out to Tireblocks for keeping us going. The track was brutal and it all stayed together and kept taking the beating. These Polaris RZRs are so strong,” explained Hancock.
Hancock will next compete at Lake Havasu, AZ on March 16-18 in the third round of the WORCS series. “I will really enjoy these next couple races. Hopefully we can move back up in the points and see where it takes us,” said Hancock. Look for Hancock to top the podium at the next round.
