Round 1 was at Walldorf/Werra which has a very well groomed motocross section and a unforgiving woods section with off camber cross rutted turns and endless stretches of acceleration/breaking bumps. Kent Nelsen was moved to XC Pro Quad Class after his 3rd place overall finish last season and with his debut in the pro class he showed he was a contender. When the flags dropped he was gone, taking the hole shot against veteran factory backed riders! But misfortune fell upon Kent early in lap 2 when he caught up to the lapped riders and a ATV cut him off. Kent had nowhere to go and crashed in to the rear of the large ATV causing his TRX450R to stall and cost him 4 positions. Kent finished 12th out of 22 registered pro’s, a very commendable effort against the factory riders.
Matthew Maynard is still racing in XC Quad class. He had bad luck with his starting position in the second row. But his TRX450R started on the first kick, then stalled 6 feet from the start. The bike started quickly but by this time he was the 24th rider to leave the starting area. With so many riders ahead of him he went to work picking them off, and eventually working his way up to a 9th place finish.
Other news: We are sorry to inform you that Matt was tasked with a short notice deployment and he will not be able to compete in the rest of the race season. We appoigize for this but our duty comes first and hope that you understand. Matt will be registering to race in the 2015 season and hopes to have your continued support. Thank you for your understanding and the the support you have given us, without it we would not be where we are today.
