Hurricane Mills, TN (03/24/19) – Polaris RZR/Yokley Racing driver, John Barnes toured the Mid-West and Mid-South making stops at 2 series over the weekend including IXCR and AXCC.
The Polaris backed Yokley team would have the opportunity to be part of UTV history by competing at the Loretta Lynn Dude Ranch venue at the American Cross Country Championship Series. Barnes commented, “It was amazing to be part of the Loretta Lynn event and race the Polaris RZR XP Turbo in UTV XC-1 Pro at a venue with such a remarkable history.”
Lorretta Lynn is a legendary country music singer and has paved the way for many female artists today. She also has a great love for the outdoors. Her home has been the motocross/cross country beginnings for many athletes today.
The terrain would not disappoint with many rolling hills, creek beds, steep ledges. and gravel beds. The weather was beautiful, and a perfect day for a ride in a Polaris RZR.
At 1 PM, Barnes would get a mid pack start on his Polaris RZR XP Turbo. He worked his way into 2nd by the end of lap 2 and would maintain it through lap 3.
Barnes commented, We’ve been working hard to get our clutch dialed in. It was a huge improvement. We made several passes to make our way to the front. However, the gravel rock beds were unforgiving, and we shredded a tire and wheel.”
As Barnes passed by at the end of lap three, he was sending tire balls into the air from his shredded tire. It was a matter of time till the wheel would let loose ending there day. Most all of the top teams lost wheel and tires. The rocks were relentless.
The team will race again April 27-April 28 making another double header weekend in Indiana and Kentucky.
