Long-time Elka rider Mike Cafro has teamed up this year with his buddy Jamie Kirkpatrick to form the Blackhills UTV Racing Team. Their team is one of the very few “privateer” team out there, battling against factory-backed efforts with way more budget. Despite this, Team Blackhills Team was able to progress quickly and make their mark in the UTV scene with some great race results. Mike and Jamie are racing in the SCORE Series, in which they recently got a 2nd Place Overall in the PRO UTV forced induction class at the SCORE Rosarito Beach Challenge despite some issues.
A few weeks prior to that, Cafro and Kirkpatrick got a hard-earned 4th Place in the Best In The Desert Series Vegas to Reno race. Check out this video to give you an idea of the challenge.
The guys are currently preparing their car for the upcoming 49th BAJA 1000 to be held Nov. 16-20 in Ensenada, Baja California in Mexico. The car is being completely stripped down to the frame and entirely rebuilt, using Elka’s Stage 5 shocks with their own special tuning. You can expect this car to be a serious podium contender.
