HURRICANE MILLS, Tenn. (August 18, 2021) – The ATV Motocross National Championship (ATVMX) Series, an AMA National Championship, concluded round nine of the AMA Pro Championship at the historic Loretta Lynn Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee on Saturday, August 14.
Both Phoenix Racing/CST Tires/Elka/Walsh Race Craft/Moose Racing’s Joel Hetrick and Wienen Motorsports/Maxxis/SSi Decals/Fly Racing/Yamaha’s Chad Wienen were ready to battle in the Tennessee heat and humidity. Wienen would battle in moto out to get out front early in the moto, and without hesitation would begin to place a gap over the rest of the field.
Hetrick, who did not get off to a great start, would have his work cut out for him to get towards the front of the pack. Hetrick would make the necessary passes and move into second as he set his sights on Wienen. Hetrick would continue to try and catch Wienen and would come close but would ultimately run out of time before the checkered flag flew. Wienen would take the moto one win, with Hetrick running in second.
As the gate dropped for the second moto, Hetrick would be the one to get a good jump off the line and move into the lead position early on. Wienen would find himself mid-pack and having to make some ground on Hetrick. Hetrick found his groove and continued to pull a gap over the rest of the field, with Wienen in tow. Hetrick would lead from start to finish, as he crossed the finish line with a 10 second gap in place back to second. Hetrick would take the overall win at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch after going 2-1 on the day, and Wienen would go 1-2 for a second overall in Tennessee.
ML2 Motorsports/Walsh Race Craft/Maxxis/Yamaha’s Max Lindquist would earn his second-straight AMA Pro overall podium finish after going 4-3 on the day. Lindquist has had a very remarkable rookie year in the AMA Pro class after starting the season with three fourth place finishes, and he looks to be finishing out the season with a couple of overall podium appearances. Lindquist continued to push himself through both motos at Loretta’s to capture his third overall finishing position. With just two more motos left in the 2021 season, Lindquist currently sits sixth in the championship standings.
Earning fourth overall at round nine was the No. 15 of GennUSA Racing/Integrated Financial Concepts/CST Tires/Walsh Race Craft’s Nicholas Gennusa. Gennusa would go 5-4 to earn the fourth overall after battling throughout the day to better his overall standing in the points. Gennusa is still aiming to put together two good motos for an overall podium finish like he did at the beginning of the season. Gennusa continues to hold onto the fifth place position in the points standings with one more round remaining.
Ford Brothers Racing/Fly/SSi/Maxxis/DWT/Maxima/Fourwerx/Walsh Race Craft’s Bryce Ford would go 3-7 for fifth overall at The Ranch. Ford would have a great first moto, moving into third and holding onto that position until the checkered flag flew. When the second moto took off Ford would start off fifth on the opening lap, but on the second lap Ford would suffer a crash putting him back to 11th. As the race continued, Ford would put his head down and push all the way back up to 7th by the time the checkered flag came out. After a tire problem in moto one, Phoenix Racing’s Jeffrey Rastrelli would come back to finish fifth in the second moto. Rastrelli went 7-5 on the day in Tennessee for a sixth place finish overall. Rastrelli continues to hold fourth in the championship points standings as just one more round of racing remains. TDR Motorsports/OnTheBox Performance/Pafford EMS/Decker Training Facilities’ Brandon Hoag would get a good jump off the line in both motos, earning the $125 SSi Decals holeshot Awards two times. Hoag would eventually find himself in the sixth place position for both motos as well, earning seventh overall on the day. |
