Hiram, Ohio 4-19-14: Round 2 of the Mt.Dew ATV Motocross National Championship headed to the revamped Muddy Creek Raceway and saw Vechery Racing take home some great finishes heading into the six week break. Saturday’s Pro Action had Tyler Hamrick qualifying in the top ten but some unfortunate luck left Tyler with a 15th overall on the day and 11th overall in the points. Saturday also marked the return of series veteran Tim Dettling. After a practice crash the week before the opening round left Tim watching from the sidelines, he was able to return and make a few laps to gain a much needed 5 points heading into High Point.
During Sunday’s Pro-Am qualifier Hamrick’s luck was able to turn around as he ripped a hole shot and led Moto 1 from beginning to end. “This was my first hole shot in what seems like forever. The whole team really has these bikes running great right now.” said Hamrick. Unfortuntely a small get together in the second moto left Hamrick nearly dead last in Moto 2 and he finished the day 7th overall and 13 points back from the class leader. After a good opening round in Georgia, Scottie Vechery was able to pick back up with a 3rd place finish in 450A Moto 1 and 11th Moto 2 for 10th OA. In Open A Scottie was able to bring it home in 11th OA on a very slick track. “The first round in Georgia went a little better than this weekend, but I’m going to take advantage of this break we have and keep working on my fitness.” said Vechery.
Vechery Racing/Never Sleep Designs Satellite support riders Dan Hoisington took 4nd overall in College 16-24 (Class Points Leader) and 13th overall in 450A, Dave Schrock securing a 10th place overall in 40+ and Alex Pafford finishing 4th overall in Super Mini and 9th overall Schoolboy Jr Open. Vechery Racing heads to the third round of the Mtn Dew AMA ATV Motocross series on May 17th for the MAXXIS ATV Stampede at HighPoint Raceway.
