GNCC Round 1 – Wild Boar in Palatka, FL
Race start was amazing and was battling for the holeshot. Ultimately I went into the woods 2nd when the leader got hung up behind another racer. I made a path and took the lead for a few miles. I hung in second place when I started to pass the riders from the classes that started before us.
Being new to Elka I am still dialing in my front shocks, but during the race we faced multiple sections nearly a mile long that were filled with either sand whoops or palmetto roots, both of which that will test any suspension. My Stage 5’s worked great and drastically reduced the fatigue that I suffered before.
I find I she’d the first lap in 3rd place, and ultimately began to stretch my lead over 4th place to over 6 minutes. Being the first round of the national series I am very confident that I am on the right track to be battling for wins this season. I am very thankful to Elka and Steve from Impact solutions for their support this season. Off to Georgia for round 2 this weekend.
